The 5 Best Sites to Play Fantasy Football

July 31st, 2009 · No Comments

I just ran across this article by Erik M. Dell, and found it interesting.

I’m in a Yahoo league, while Eddie is in a CBS Sportsline league.  Prior to this year, I was the co-commish (with Eddie) in a CBS Sportsline league for 5 years.  Though I agree the cost is absurd, the one VERY IMPORTANT feature CBS Sportsline has, which Erik doesn’t mention, is the intricate rules and scoring system.

In particular, CBS Sportsline has the ability to give points in the decimals and by percentages.  For example, instead of just saying that a RB gets 1 point per 10 rushing yards, if Team One has 2 RBs that gain 99 yards, and Team Two’s RBs gain 100 yards, Team One gets 18 points while Team Two gets 20 points.  Team Two only had 2 more rushing yards than Team One and they get 2 more points!?!?!  That’s ridiculous!

In Sportsline you can say a RB gets .1 points for every 1 yard.  It’s a much more accurate scoring system.  So, with the previous example, Team One would get 19.8 points and Team Two would get 20 points.  Much better!

Back to Erik’s article…Fanball wasn’t on my radar as a site to play fantasy football at.  If I look into playing into a 2nd league again, I may have to give that one a shot.
