Preseason Around the Corner…And This Year All Games Broadcast in HD

July 25th, 2009 · No Comments

In a few weeks is the time of year my Media Center PC gets a workout.  This year will be an even bigger workout for it since ALL the NFL Preseason games will be aired in HD…all the live ones, and the re-broadcast ones on NFL Network.

Don’t let other supposed fantasy football experts tell you that Preseason doesn’t matter.  Most of the 1st stringers are out there for part of the 1st quarter in Week 1, and at least the first 1 and 1/2 quarters in Week 2 and Week 3.  Along with seeing rookies for the first time, in the first half of all the Preseason games, you can get a feel for the teams offensive and defensive schemes, and the quality of the O-Line.

Here are some snippets from last years Preseason notes showing what I got right (and wrong):

Week 1

  • Kansas City 24, Chicago 20 – Surprisingly, loved KC play calling (pass and run).  KC WRs Bowe and Price looked great.  Bears run blocking was great.  Matt Forte = very good.
  • Carolina 23, Indianapolis 20 – Car O-Line = Stellar!  RB Williams (CAR) = Excellent, WR Jarret (CAR) = Very Good, Lorenzen = Very Good

Week 2

  • Indianapolis 16, Atlanta 9 – Marvin Harrison – If Peyton plays, get him!  Turner and Falcons Run Block = Excellent!  Roddy White = Great!
  • Denver 23, Dallas 13 – Both O-Lines looked awesome!  Culter, Marshall, Royal, and Hall = Excellent!  Hall is better than Young.
