2008-2009 NFL Week 10 Picks

2008 NFL Week 10

Thursday – 6 November 2008

Packers Fans

Denver Broncos @ Cleveland Browns

Eddie: (Winner – Broncos)

It’s about time we finally get to the Thursday night games.  So now it’s time for the Mighty Quinn.  I think this was an excellent move by the Browns.  Quinn brings a swagger that I think the Browns need.  Unfortunately, very few first time starters win their first games.  Denver is also having to listen to the media about how bad their defense is so they’ll be playing with a little chip on their shoulders.

Fred: (Winner – Broncos)

Even with the ridiculous number of injuries, that Broncos offense is too good. Upset pick #1!

Sunday – 9 November 2008

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons

Eddie: (Winner – Falcons)

The rookie Matt Ryan is really proving himself and is pushing for that rookie of the year vote.  He’s developed a good rapport with Roddy White while Turner and Norwood provide that 1-2 punch.  The defense is also playing very well.    You can never count the Saints out while Brees is at the helm but I think this Falcon team at home will be too much.

Fred: (Winner – Falcons)

The Falcons at home are undefeated and it shows.  Even with a rookie QB, their offense is amazingly effective on the ground and in the air.  The Saints are off a bye week, and should finally have a healthy Colston and Shockey.  This game should be a high scoring, fun one.  Since the Falcons are at home, gotta go with them.

Tennessee Titans @ Chicago Bears

Eddie: (Winner – Bears)

Out of the remaining schedule for the Titans I think they’ll lose two; this week against the Bears and week 16 against Pittsburgh.  Both teams are very physical and know how to win games with their defenses.

Fred: (Winner – Titans)

Sexy Rexy is back at QB, which means?  It means a QB, that when under heavy pressure, really cracks.  Titans rattle Grossman, run through the suspect Bears D and crush the Bears on their home turf.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Detroit Lions

Eddie: (Winner – Jaguars)

The QB position for Detroit is in disarray.  I mean – Culpepper might start for the Lions and he JUST signed with them.

Fred: (Winner – Jaguars)

The Jaguars gave the Bengals their first win last week and are going to take their anger out against the lowly Lions.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans

Eddie: (Winner – Ravens)

Sage is taking over for the injured Schaub.  Sage, at times, looks like he could be a starter somewhere in the NFL but then lays an egg to remind everyone why he’s the back up.  This week he’ll lay that egg.  Scrambled with cheese please – covered and smothered is what the Ravens are thinking.

Fred: (Winner – Texans)

Even though his name is wack, Sage knows how to run that Texans offense.  Even though the Ravens are a better team, the Texans are at home, where they’re 3-1 this year, so they should have a little more offense than the Ravens to barely beat them.

Seattle Seahawks @ Miami Dolphins

Eddie: (Winner – Dolphins)

Okay Miami – you have my attention.  Just don’t go and lose it by losing to Seattle.  And Seattle – what in the LLEH happened to you guys?

Fred: (Winner – Dolphins)

I’m finally becoming a believer in Miami.  They’ll definitely beat Seattle, but if they crush them, they are officially a possible playoff bound team.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings

Eddie: (Winner – Packers)

Tough back to back games for the Packers as they come off that disappointing loss to the Titans.  I expect the Packers to be playing for blood.

Fred: (Winner – Packers) => UPSET PICK OF THE WEEK!

Packers over Titans was our “Upset Pick of the Week” last week, and even though they lost, they did beat the spread.  :)   In this division rivalry, the Packers defense is due for a big game with a TD, and it has to be this one.  Packers get the “W” in Minnesota.  Upset pick #2!

Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots

Eddie: (Winner – Patriots)

I actually like both teams’ chances of winning this one but I’ll be safe and stick with the home team.

Fred: (Winner – Patriots)

3-1 at home against an injured Bills offense, it’s impossible to go against the Patriots.

St. Louis Rams @ New York Jets

Eddie: (Winner – Jets)

Just like the above game I think this is a coin toss.  If Steven Jackson is healthy I really like the Rams’ chances but the Jets defense at home is going to be tough.

Fred: (Winner – Jets)

Like I said last week, no S-Jax, no win for the Rams.

Carolina Panthers @ Oakland Raiders

Eddie: (Winner – Panthers)

How can you not go with the Panthers after seeing Oakland play last week?

Fred: (Winner – Panthers)

There are some bad teams in the NFL this year and the Raiders are one of the worst, with coaching and player personnel.  The Panthers will easily roll these chumps.

Indianapolis Colts @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Eddie: (Winner – Steelers)

Pittsburgh will probably be without Big Ben but Byron Leftwich is playing to showcase his talent for a gig next year and the Steelers will have that curtain up….  Watch out Indy – that L is coming head on.  Ready to play chicken?

Fred: (Winner – Steelers)

I am not confident at all with this pick.  No Willie and probably no Ben.  Still, I’m going with that Steel Curtain defense at home.

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers

Eddie: (Winner – Chargers)

Thigpen has been playing great and the Chargers defense has been a non-factor.  The firing of the Charges defensive coordinator may provide that spark needed to “charge” San Diego.

Fred: (Winner – Chargers)

The Chargers are off a bye week at home against a Chiefs team that has discovered a new offense, which is actually pretty good.  I still think the Chargers will win, but it will be a close one.

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

Eddie: (Winner – Eagles)

Tough match up for both teams.  I think the Eagles will bait Manning into a couple of interceptions which will allow McNabb and Westbrook to control the tempo of the game.

Fred: (Winner – Eagles)

As the season’s progressed, I’ve become a bigger and bigger fan of the Eagles.  I’ll even go to say I think they’ll be the best team in the NFC East at the end of the season.   With a 5-3 record, in the 5 wins they won by a lot, and in the 3 losses, they’ve barely lost.  So, I guess that means the Eagles will crush the Giants on Sunday night.

Monday – 10 November 2008

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

Eddie: (Winner – Cardinals)

The Cardinals are an amazing team to watch at home and their defense has stepped it up too.  I think this might be a closer game than anticipated.

Fred: (Winner Cardinals)

At home, with the much better RB getting hand-offs from Warner, the Cardinals offense is virtually unstoppable.  Off of the bye week, with the most attention the Niners have gotten in a few years, they will show up and make it a good game.  But, the Cardinals are just a better team right now.
