Aaron Rodgers2008 NFL Week 4

Sunday – 28 September 2008

Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons

Eddie: (Winner – Panthers)

I really like how the Falcons offense is shaping up but they are going to have a hard time getting it jump started against a stout Panthers defense.

Fred: (Winner – Panthers)

The Panthers have a better all around team (offense and defense), and they’re at home.

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals

Eddie: (Winner – Bengals)

Both teams are playing for a lot.  Can Palmer and Chad Johnson along with Housh get things going?  Is Derek Anderson going to get pulled?  Quinn comes in late with a huge deficit to try and overcome.

Fred: (Winner – Browns)

This game is a coin toss if you ask me.  Flip!  Heads, so I’ll go Browns.  Upset pick #1!

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Eddie: (Winner – Texans)

This isn’t last year’s Jacksonville teams so this is a toss up to me.  I’m going with Houston.

Fred: (Winner – Jaguars)

The Texans made so many mistakes on offense because of the poor pass protection.  I really believe the Texans offense will bounce back, but because the Jags are at home, I think they’ll do enough to barely win.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs

Eddie: (Winner – Broncos)

Denver racks up the frequent flyer miles as Cutler and B Marsh rack it up through the air.

Fred: (Winner – Broncos)

Chiefs are finally going with Huard so they’ll get some points, but not even close to enough to beat the high-powered Broncos offense.

San Francisco 49ers @ New Orleans Saints

Eddie: (Winner – 49ers)

49ers defense is starting to sneak up on teams and the offense is really coming along.  49ers win one by a couple points.

Fred: (Winner – 49ers)

No Shockey and no Colston…Brees and Bush are good, but the Niners are rolling right now.  They dominated last week for the first time in a long time.  I see the Niners has a freight train rolling into New Orleans.  I’m on that train…Niners win.

Arizona Cardinals @ New York Jets

Eddie: (Winner – Cardinals)

I didn’t like what I saw in Favre last week and the Jets defense looked horrible.

Fred: (Winner – Jets)

Prior to last year, typical Favre is to have a great game, then a bad game, and so on.  He wasn’t very good last week on Monday night so at home, I’ll take Favre and Jets.

Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Eddie: (Winner – Packers)

Rodgers bounces back with an easy win over the Bucs.

Fred: (Winner – Packers) <= UPSET PICK OF THE WEEK!

I can’t believe anyone out there thinks the 2nd best team in the NFC is going to lose two games in a row.  Griese’s arm is still going to be numb from 67 pass attempts last week.  With their starting Center and Grant at 100%, the Packers blow out the Bucs.  Upset pick #2!

Minnesota Vikings @ Tennessee Titans

Eddie: (Winner – Titans)

The Titans are one of the best teams in the NFL not being talked about.  Take them at home.

Fred: (Winner – Vikings)

I don’t know what it is, but I love me some Gussy-Poo.  He makes the passing game respectable.  On offense, what the Titans do well is run.  Well, what the Vikings do better is stop the run.  Vikings get the “W”.  Upset pick #3!

San Diego Chargers @ Oakland Raiders

Eddie: (Winner – Chargers)

Take it easy L.T. – this win should come easy.

Fred: (Winner – Chargers)

How could anyone pick the Raiders against the Chargers after seeing the Chargers easily take care of the Jets on Monday night?  Seriously!

Buffalo Bills @ St Louis Rams

Eddie: (Winner – Bills)

From the greatest show on turf to the worst NFL team on earth.  Bills are licking their chops.

Fred: (Winner – Bills)

Talk about the Circle of Life with Rams QBs over the years: Green => Warner => Bulger => Green.  Except Green is one concussion away from not knowing what planet we live on.  The team is furious with the move to Green too.  Rams have no chance to be competitive with the Bills.

Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys

Eddie: (Winner – Cowboys)

This is always a tough matchup when these two teams meet.  I wouldn’t be surprised if this comes down to a touchdown or less.

Fred: (Winner – Cowboys)

Best team in NFC in Big D…gotta go with Dallas.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Chicago Bears

Eddie: (Winner – Bears)

Tough defensive game and without a healthy Westbrook this Eagles offense will have a lot of turnovers that the Chicago defense will use to their advantage.

Fred: (Winner – Eagles)

I’m sold on the Eagles offense.  McNabb could put up over 300+ passing with ham and turkey sandwichs as his receivers.  Bears are also a great team.  They have a conservative yet effective offense and a great defense.  Philly just looks so friggin’ good!  Eagles win in a close one.

Monday – 29 September 2008

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Eddie: (Winner – Steelers)

I really would like to pick Baltimore but a Steelers team at home on a Monday night against a rookie QB tells me not to.

Fred: (Winner – Steelers)

I can’t believe the Ravens are 2-0.  Wait…they beat the Browns and the Bengals…ok, I believe it then.  The Steelers officially welcome the rookie QB to the NFL.  Steelers win.  But, as a side note, Mendenhall has had a severe case of the butterfingers thus far in the NFL.  That could bite the Steelers in the “you know where”.
